I’ve just been up to the Lake District for a long weekend. It’s a region of the UK close to my heart and one that I have made many images of over the years. This time I concentrated on Coniston Water and made the effort to get up early, really early at this time of year, to catch the first light. It can make all the difference to your landscape photography as it is often only at this time of that you are able to capture a mirror-like calm on the water and find the peace and tranquility of being the only soul around. That said, clouds of midges were a constant annoyance and left me liberally bitten. I suffer for my art.
